How We Work

Dream homes don’t happen by chance.

Choosing a reliable, quality-focused builder is paramount. However, finding one that also provides a client-centred process ensures you will enjoy the journey of building a home you love. As a custom home builder, this is where Silverstone shines. From the planning phase to choosing the perfect fixture, we work closely with our clients, involving them in each step of the process, ensuring every detail is to their exact specification.

Our process is centred on you

Discovery

The initial meeting is where we get to know you and allows you to get a feel for what we stand for as a builder. We discuss your needs, lifestyle, location, design requirements, budget, and expectations as a client. When both parties feel aligned on the vision for your new home we move into planning and design.

Planning and Design

We work closely with our draftsperson to put together the preliminary design. It’s not uncommon to have multiple rounds of revisions at this point to ensure everything is just right. At this stage, we also begin to design the build specifications, outlining every detail and feature in your home. Rest assured, the budget and wish list are at the forefront throughout the entire process and we spend as much time here as we need until each detail is exactly how you’d like.

Contract

With architectural designs complete, it is time to make it official. We finalize the comprehensive budget proposal, construction drawings and build specifications. Once agreed upon, we sign the contract and are ready for the interior and exterior selection process. Now the fun begins!

Selections, Stage One

Our selection process is divided into three stages giving clients the space they need to select finishings to their taste. In the first stage, we select exterior finishings required for architectural controls:

  • siding/stucco                          
  • exterior stone
  • shingles
  • windows and doors
  • deck finishing

Selections, Stage Two

At stage two, we solidify your interior design and finishing:

  • cabinet layout and colours
  • fireplaces 
  • appliances 
  • plumbing 
  • flooring

Selections, Stage Three

And last, we select the finer details to make your space truly your own:

  • lighting fixtures 
  • countertops 
  • railing/millwork design
  • interior doors
  • closet design 
  • interior hardware
  • paint and stain colours
  • mirrors and glass
  • interior masonry

Construction

Our group of talented trades is the best in the industry. During construction, clients receive a key and have full access so that they can visit as they please. We have a transparent construction process that keeps our clients in the loop with progress and budget. We also hold scheduled walk-throughs at various stages of construction so that clients can immerse themselves with the trades on site, ask questions and go over any details that need clarifying.

Possession

One to two weeks before possession, we welcome you for an initial walk-through. We provide a complete orientation at this time and highlight any issues that need our attention before you move in. We’ll complete a walk-through once again on the day you take possession to ensure you are 100% happy in your new home.

Warranty/Post-Possession Service

Just because construction is complete doesn’t mean our relationship ends. We remain available to answer questions about the home as well as touch base regularly to complete our post-move-in check which continues every 3/6/12 months over the next year. We pride ourselves on our post-possession care and go above and beyond to make sure our homeowners not only love their home but continue to feel like members of the Silverstone family. We are members of Progressive Home Warranty and proud to be in good standing with no previous claims. If something arises that we need to address, we promise to attend to any issues promptly.
